Bevo Mill is a neighborhood located in south St. Louis City. Named after the Bevo Mill restaurant the neighborhood is bound by Kingshighway to the west, Chippawa Street on the North, Holly Hills Street on the South and some railroad tracks on the east.
The Bevo Mill itself is located at the corner of Gravois Road, Morganford Avenue and Delor Street. Click Here For A Google Map Of the Bevo Mill
The restaurant was built in 1915 at a cost of over $1,000,000.00 by the Anheuser Busch company. It was designed to resemble Flemish Wind Mill. Some of the stones that were used on the exterior of the building were actually gathered by August Busch Senior from his estate (Grant's farm).
The restaurant, which is located exactly half way between the Anheuser Busch Brewery and Grant's Farm, was opened to the public in 1917. The land around the mill was developed soon after wards and is made up of mostly frame and brick bungalows.
The neighborhood has remained stable through the years and recently has experienced an influx of Bosnian immigrants as evidenced by a good number of bars and restaurants specializing in Bosnian Food and Drink.
